Following on from our recent trend focus on luxury furniture inspired by precious stones and jewels, ‘Saffier’ is a new table by Dutch design collective De Intuïtiefabriek that’s inspired by gemstones and the art of goldsmithing.

The Saffier table by De Intuïtiefabriek is designed to resemble a precious jewel set into a piece of jewelry.

Just like a gemstone in its setting, the sapphire blue glass that forms Saffier’s tabletop is held in place by a black powder coated steel frame.

The blue glass table top is cut into an octagon that reflects the standard shape of a cut jewel.

About the designer: The Intuïtiefabriek is an all female designstudio, made up of Amba Molly, Eefiene Bolhuis and Eva Gevaert, finding common ground in their intuitive way of working and their use of materials and techniques. They bring them to create within different fields of design; from slipcasting porcelain to blowing glass and bending wood. The outcomes vary from furniture to tableware and jewelry. To De Intuïtiefabriek designing is all about craftsmanship, the touch of material and the actual act of making things. Their aim is to create perfectly crafted products, from which you can feel the love with which they were made. They create a pure, precise and almost fragile feeling, taking the observer into a beautiful new world.
