The latest pieces introduced during ICFF 2013 from Brooklyn based company, VOLK, are an exploration of color and geometry.

The Geometric Tables are made of solid ash and hand painted with bright colors, and the modular tables can be used in a variety of configurations. Create one hexagon, or smaller shapes and sizes. No matter which way the tables are placed, the hand painted details complement each other.

Trapezoids and triangles emphasize the clever shape and flexibility of the modular Geometric Tables.

The Ash Credenza with Storage Unit is two pieces that can be used independently or together. The dresser features custom brass drawer pulls, and fabric lined drawers. The sliding doors have linen fronts that carry over the hand-painted details from the Geometric Tables.

The Oak Side Table has a cerused finish. (An unusual finish, ceruse is used to whiten and fill the porous open grain of oak planks). The brass legs and drawer pulls are all custom made. The result is an elegant and simple side table that will last for generations.

Owner, designer and builder, Brian Volk-Zimmerman (BFA, Rhode Island School of Design) is a painter and musician who began making furniture in 2006 in Brooklyn. VOLK is named to honor a family tradition that he discovered when he found a simply constructed wooden side chair in the attic of the family farmhouse in which he grew up. The chair was one of many in the house made by his great-great-great-great grandfather, John Volk, a furniture maker of local renown in the early 19th century.
