As preparations for New York’s ICFF fair are now in full swing, we are excited to see the previews of products that will be launched at the show now arriving in our inboxes. One such preview is from Brooklyn-based design studio Volk Furniture, who will be launching a new range of furniture with hand-painted details.

Inspired by the work he completed for the charity design exhibition Reclaim NYC, Brian Volk-Zimmerman of Volk Furniture has developed a line of furniture with hand-painted detailing.

Although Volk, who studied painting at RISD, launched his studio back in 2006, this is first time he has incorporated painted details into his work. He told us: “While working on the Sandy Chest for Reclaim NYC in December though, I became very interested in adding hand-painted details to my pieces.  This inspired me to keep exploring the process and the result can be seen in several of the pieces from my new collection and forthcoming limited editions.”

The full collection will be on show at ICFF next month at ICFF Booth 2453 at the Jacob Javits Center between May 18-21.

About the designer: Volk Furniture is a Brooklyn-based company dedicated to the design and fabrication of handcrafted, traditionally joined and finished wood furniture. Headed up by Brian Volk-Zimmerman, each Volk design is unique and carefully considered to showcase the quality of the hand-selected materials. The beauty of the solid wood is enhanced by unexpected details such as drawers lined with shirting fabric or antique organ stops re-tasked as drawer pulls.
