For his latest lighting design for Foscarini, Italian designer Luca Nichetto took inspiration from a cartoon character.

Stewie is a characterful floor lamp by Luca Nichetto for Foscarini with a soft, rounded form that’s reminiscent of designs from the 1960s.

Named after the fictional character Stewie from the popular cartoon Family Guy, the Stewie floor lamp was presented at the Milan Furniture Fair 2012.

Stewie’s friendly form is made using a combination of expanded polypropylene foam and technical fabrics, which are more commonly be used to make luggage or sports wear.

The prismatic fabric that lines the inside of the lamp spreads, reflects and diffuses the light.
