by Steelcase have introduced a new, interactive range of healthcare seating and casegoods that support times of patient transition. The new design features integrated plug-in spots that enable time-crunched patients or partners in care to be productive and catch up on work projects or just relax with their electronic devices.

The Regard healthcare system supports and enhances patient experiences during times of transition.

Nurture have carried out research that concluded that transitional moments are often missed opportunities to improve patient satisfaction and enhance the relationship between the caregiver and patient. "Many common areas are lost spaces, simply rooms filled with chairs, serving no purpose other than to have people sit and wait," explains Margaret Alrutz, director of strategic marketing and experience design for Nurture, "People want to feel included when it comes to their health needs.” Regard was designed in response to this as a space where patients can absorb information, be entertained, and connect with loved ones during their treatment.

As well as plug-in points for TVs or iPads that provide learning or positive distraction and relaxation, the system can also be customised to provide areas for privacy and consultation.

Seating is refined and well-ordered, seamlessly meeting a range of complex needs such as catering to the growing senior and bariatric populations as well as children and those who rely on wheelchairs.
