Launching this weekend at the European Design Biennale, Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium, the Curl table lamp by Sebastian Bergne for Luceplan Spa makes use of the very latest tuneable white LED technology, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with LED lighting.

The Curl lamp goes some way in redefining what we think of as a table lamp.

The design combines the light source and reflector into a single elegant gesture, and because there is no specified base, the lamp has no defined orientation and can be placed in a number of different positions.

A common criticism of LED lighting is that it tends to emit a cold, blue glare as opposed to the warmer glow that is created by traditional bulbs. Sebastian Bergne explains how the tuneable white technology that Curl uses helps to tackle this issue,  “Tuneable white means that there is a ring around the light source that can be turned to manually adjust the light color between a colder, slightly blue hue to a warmer yellow light that’s similar to fluorescent or traditional. So, anyone can tune it to their preferred white.”
