Renaissance astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus presented the first Heliocentric model, with the sun at the center of the universe, in the early 16th century. A few centuries later, Artemide designed its own model, aptly named Copernico, which is available in the U.S. this fall.

Copernico's nine ellipses rotate on two axes; a wall version has three concentric elements

The cable-suspended luminaire is made of nine concentric ellipses fabricated from a single plate of anodized aluminum in metal gray or metal black finish. The lamp has a circuit of 384 white LEDs, which can provide indirect, direct, and diffused light as the plates are moved on two axes to create different configurations.

A wall-mounted luminaire is designed with a similar concept, but has three concentric elements and a circuit of 400 LEDs. The two interior rectilinear elements also offer many possibilities for direct and diffused lighting. Available in metal gray or metal black finish.
