Mimbre Lounge Chair Showcases Chilean Weaving Technique
Amalia twists and turns in an undulating fashion, its seat a welcome convex hole in the center of this woven sculpture. Each side of Amalia features a perfect circle allowing one to view the technique of weaving mimbre. A window into the weave, this porthole intensifies the Amalia’s nautical feel—the chair resembles the lovely shape of a marine cephalopod.
Available on demand, Amalia chair measures 80cm X 80cm X 65 cm (approximately 31 x 31 x 25 inches). The size is neither too large nor too small: it is the perfect amount of mimbre material to cradle one’s body just so. A perfect perch for reading, contemplating, or conversing, Amalia provides a nest for the human body, making one feel light enough to take flight.
