Ludovica + Roberto Palomba Present the Loop Shower Stall

Something about the new Loop Shower Stall by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba for Kos is intrinsically Euro, quintessentially Parisian. Perhaps it’s the corner orientation; or it could be the curved glass doors that maximize space; it might even be the way the Palombas manage to compartmentalize so many cutting-edge features in such a compact, well, compartment. Say what you will about the aesthetic of small spaces, but if Loop demonstrates anything it’s how to get the biggest bang for your square footage buck.

The Loop Shower Stall Offers a Rainfall Showerhead, a Fold-Away Seat, and a Meditative Color Therapy System

“Generated by two self-supporting panels of tempered glass and technopolymer,” Loop sports an intuitive design that just so happens to look great. Partaking generously of van der Rohe’s maxim about form following function, Loop is formal functionality at its best. The double panels join together in a trapezoidal nexus that facilitates the intended corner installation, while also creating a handsome expanse of glass that just makes sense for a shower stall.

But the allure of the aesthetic is self-evident. Less apparent is the bevy of functional features one encounters on the business end of that lovely tempered glass. Loop not only offers a state-of-the art rainfall showerhead, it also greets bathers with a foldaway seat, an energy conserving steam-proof and waterproof hinge system, and—wait for it—a fully computerized and programmable color therapy feature.

As we’ve seen with past products such as Hafro’s Etoile, the addition of a rich nimbus of colored light can add immeasurably to the shower experience—embracing and enhancing a whole range of moods and emotions. Depending on your particular inclination, Loop lets you experience everything from a meditative blue to an invigorating orange to a downright sultry purple—the perfect accompaniment to Loop’s blissful cascade of soothing waters.

About the Manufacturer: Kos began in 1998 as a company that produced whirlpool tubs and multifunctional shower cabins. In 2001, the Italian company hired internationally recognized designers Ludovica + Roberto Palomba to design their entire collection and oversee the company’s art direction. Ludovica + Roberto Palomba’s designs “reinvented the bathroom setting in type and morphology.” Then in 2007, Kos entered the Zucchetti group, and the two leading brands were “united by a shared philosophy and purpose.” Zucchetti and Kos design bathroom products for cosmopolitan clients who want to build “domestic panoramas.”
