Rock Solid: Striations Biobased Tile by Armstrong Commercial Flooring

If you’re looking for a non-PVC tile that’s creative, economical, and sustainable, then feast your eyes on Striations Biobased Tile (BBT). Created by Armstrong Commercial Flooring, Striations is “inspired by the natural qualities found in ancient stone and time-weathered wood.” To add to the stylistic appeal of Striations, Armstrong designed the tile in a 12” x 24” linear format, making it as attention-getting as a beautifully layered stretch of rock.

Striations is made with 85% recycled limestone and a polymer ingredient known as BioStride®, “which is made with a domestically grown, rapidly renewable plant source.” At least 60% of the material in this BBT product comes from U.S. sources and it’s manufactured at Armstrong’s Jackson, Mississippi plant. All of these characteristics make Striations an ideal choice for commercial projects, notably hospitals and schools, because the tile “reduces reliance on petroleum and fossil fuels while expanding the affordability of green projects.”

Besides its great aesthetic and strong environmental quality, Striations BBT is durable—it can withstand as much abuse as an actual piece of stone: “It has twice the indent resistance and more than five times greater impact resistance than standard composition tile.” And since it’s affordable, this Armstrong Commercial Flooring product merits a second look—most especially for larger venues that could benefit from the environmentally responsible nature of Striations. It’s a rock solid choice!

About the Manufacturer: Armstrong celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010. A global leader in the design and manufacture of floors, ceilings, and cabinets, the company offers a wide range of floor products: hardwood, laminate, linoleum, vinyl sheet, and tile. With 90% of its business in commercial flooring and 10% in residential, Armstrong serves the needs of both large and intimate spaces.
