Look at the cupped cut-out shape of the desk for the inspiration behind the name Envelop. It’s “infield” wraps around the chair slightly and slides forward seven inches with a seven degree pivot that can be let down for a more comfortable typing position. Aside from the obvious Herman Miller commitment to healthy posturing and ergonomics, the Envelop has also been designed to support a sustainable environment by being made from 32% recycled materials. After its lifecycle, the desk is also made so that 53% of it is 100% recyclable. Measuring 30″D x 45″L x 27.5″-32.5″H at its smallest, the desk can expand up to 37″D x 45″L x 27.5″- 32.5″H when fully extended.

About the Designer: The late Bill Stumpf and design partner, Jeff Weber, designed the Envelop desk for Herman Miller after imagining up other pivotal pieces of ergonomic office furniture for Herman Miller. In fact, they have been responsible for many of the imaginative leaps that have produced innovative solutions under the prestigious Herman Miller brand. Bill designed the first ergonomic task chair, Ergon, introduced in 1974, and the Aeron chair. Jeff designed the Caper chair. Together, they designed Embody, the first health-positive task chair before embarking on more beautiful, ergonomic designs we can be thankful for.
