Energy & Expression in Lighting: Verve III by Focal Point

Verve is a word that means artistic expression, vitality, and talent. These three meanings are evident in the design of Verve III, a suspended indirect luminaire designed and created by Focal Point, LLC, a Chicago-based lighting firm that wants to emphasize “the art of lighting.” This ceiling fixture hangs with style and panache—a sort of kinetic tribute to energy itself.

Luminaire with Concave Shielding

Verve III features concave patterned shielding that directs light upward and diffuses it throughout a room’s space, which means that the light it produces will never be harsh. The luminaire’s steel housing has “5 inch die-cast end caps that extend the minimal line of the housing.” Available in various shapes and colors, Verve III transforms itself depending on its chosen specifications.

As a round luminaire, Verve III softens the look of a room. In a square shape, Verve III highlights clean lines and sharp edges instead. While the light works well in offices and conference rooms, it is also a good alternative for educational facilities. In lieu of overhead lighting that can discolor everyone and everything within the room, Verve III and its signature indirect light work to highlight the pages of books and computer monitors (not to mention student faces). Its available daylight/occupancy sensor also helps keep energy costs at a minimum—a smart move for schools and colleges looking to protect their bottom line.

The company’s lighting serves a wide range of contract needs, including corporate and educational markets. Focal Point believes in bringing artistry to the lighting market by delivering a “superior luminaire.”
