Warm Wooden Vanities: Doll Noce and Patch by Ypsilon

I can’t decide whether Ypsilon’s darling duo of wooden vanities—with the equally intriguing monikers of Patch and Doll Noce—belong in the Belles Lettres Salon of a 19th century French poet, or the meticulously appointed contemporary loft of a 21st. century fashionista, but either way I like them.

Ypsilon’s Patch and Doll Noce Vanities Are Warm and Whimsical

Patch and Doll Noce represent a rare confluence of spirited play and flawless craftsmanship. Both pieces exemplify a wealth of detail: from Patch’s perfectly joined, creatively contrasting woods, to the pair of sublime semi-circles coming together to form Doll Noce’s innovative hardware.

Compared to most contemporary vanities, both Doll Noce and Patch have an anachronistic aspect—and that’s a good thing, especially if you occasionally tire of the usual suspects of porcelain and polished stone. To the contrary, Doll Noce and Patch feature copious amounts of wood.

The timeless appeal of this real wood manifests in a warm, comforting aesthetic, enhanced in both Patch and Doll Noce with a painterly touch. The former features four thin wooden legs attached at a jaunty angle and painted in your choice of a stark white or a robin’s egg blue, while the latter employs wood as a vertical cabinet front—an attractive contrast with the ceramic basin up top.

About the Manufacturer: Manufacturer Ypsilon has chosen their name—and made use of the name’s symbology—with perfect precision: “graphically expressing the synthesis between the classic and the contemporary, with the Y ideally representing the overtaking of the evolution of thought, leading from Generation X to Generation Y. Just like the life-creating chromosome.” In light of this auspicious interpretation, the company’s product line aspires towards balance, towards comprehensive creativity, towards a generativity that is derivative, yet wholly original. Just so, products like the Patch and Doll Noce Vanities are familiar yet innovative, evocative of an earlier excellence yet surprisingly fresh.
