Bonomi Contemporaneo Italiano Presents the Beautiful Virgo Faucet

Having recently had an extended behind-the-scenes look at my home’s plumbing, I harbor a fresh appreciation for the virtual magic of water in the home–available at our beck and call and under our direct control. Lest we forget that we’re masters of this element only through the genius of technology… manufacturer Bonomi brings us the Virgo Faucet, a stunning set piece that creates the illusion of water falling from the sky.

Bonomi’s Virgo Faucet Provides a Pure Column of Crystalline Water

In fact the Virgo faucet approximates that lynchpin of water delivery, the utilitarian pipe. But never before has this crucial element of plumbing systems shone so resplendent, basked so brightly in the transparent shape of its own making.

Virgo is a perfectly cylindrical tap in glossy chrome with the singular achievement of having banished all but the essentials. This is particularly fitting for an apparatus whose raison d’etre is providing this most basic element: gone are the usual bells and whistles—no handles in site, no cumbersome identification of hot or cold.

To the contrary, Virgo is a simple column with a slight double curve. The shape is sleek and the silhouette is superb; the nifty on-off switch is actually part of the column, thus preserving the illusion of water descended from on high: as if a transparent—well nigh invisible—pipe had descended from the ceiling and dropped a perfectly contained column of water right into your waiting basin.

About the Manufacturer: Bonomi Contemporaneo Italiano has been on the scene since the early 1900s, when the company was founded in Lumezzane, a district in the province of Brescia. The region has always been known for its excellence with metalwork—a  fitting antecedent for a manufacturer of such shiny, sleek, and superlatively sexy bath and kitchen faucets. Proven lines like the Bonomi Classic and Aqua Jewels Collection showcase Bonomi as a brand that “unites traditional craftsmanship with research and design in the production of top quality Italian taps and fittings.”
