Shoes Your Hardware: High Fashion Knobs and Pulls by Atlas Homewares

As you might imagine, I'm not much of an authority on ladies' footwear. In fact, my vocabulary in regard to same is limited to banalities like "heels" and "pumps," and I've a philosophical opposition to shoes that resemble miniature torture chambers. Even so, I can recognize a bit of high fashion when I see it. So on this level I can appreciate the new line of cabinet hardware by designer Adrienne Morea of Atlas Homewares.

As Adrienne Morea, designer and Atlas Ceo, says, "picking the right decorative hardware is like picking the perfect pair of shoes for a dress… It's your mark of uniqueness." Morea aims for the haute couture crowd with her latest collection. Comprised of ten knobs and pulls, each is a meticulous rendering of some of the season's hottest styles.

Featured knobs include a big, bold, squared off gem resembling an inset diamond, a seamless vertical "strap" in polished chrome, and a handful of intricate circular styles evoking everything from a faceted crystal to a burgeoning bed of resplendent pearls.

About the Manufacturer: Atlas Homewares creates knobs and pulls for kitchen and bath, in addition to switch plates, outlet covers, house numbers, knockers, and doorbells. Known for their audaciously beautiful cabinet hardware, Atlas Homewares owes its origins to a shabby kitchen in an even shabbier apartment. After re-finishing the cabinets, designer and company CEO Adrienne Morea asked herself what would do the re-furbished kitchen justice? Her husband's novel idea set the tone for the future of both Morea and Atlas: “What if you were to design something different, something like your jewelry line?”, he said. “Hmm.”, I said, “Jewelry for cabinets….I like that. I think I’ll do that for the rest of my life.”
