Reinier de Jong PLET Table

PLET table is a harmonious example of sustainable design. Each material is reclaimed and given a new life in this simple, elegant table. Designer Reinier de Jong references Japanese interiors through the low, minimalist design of the table. The construction of the table is reminiscent of Japanese methods, with perfectly fitted connections that hold the materials together as opposed to toxic glues and mechanical connectors.

The top surface is made from eighty combined strips of reclaimed Perspex, which is used in different thicknesses, colors and transparencies to create a subtle pattern. The solid oak base is made from a reclaimed dining table that is held together by a plywood connector strip. The acrylic top hovers delicately above the wood base via an aluminum strip that is tightly fitted into slot in both the wood and acrylic. PLET table is an effortless piece that will be transformed by its environment based on available lighting and colors.
