Moove Out of the Way for Mobilificio Florida’s Foldable Kitchen

There’s something about the deep cerise and reflective metallic sheen of Mobilificio Florida’s “Moove 01” Foldable Kitchen that reminds me of a movie theater curtain. Since I’m frequently a late arrival, I don’t even know if that feature is still a regular component of the cinema, but back in the day the shows at the larger screens would employ the device to drape the entire proceedings in an aura of mystery: once the heavy pleated fabric were withdrawn, the magic of illuminated celluloid would commence and said mystery would unveil.

The Moove Foldable Kitchen hides a comparable array of enticing enchantments behind its Prugna Lacquered Finish. In the closed position, Moove appears to be but a bank of beautiful cabinets, but at the slightest touch the cabinetry parts to reveal an entire cooking ensemble—sink, backsplash, prep space, and cooktop.

The “now-you-see-it, now-you-don’t” (or “now-you-don’t-see-it, now-you-do”) aspect of Moove is certainly worth the price of admission, but this is no mere cinematic gimmick but rather a well-thought approach to maximizing vaunted kitchen space. The concept seizes on the widely-held notion that the kitchen is the heart of the house by imparting a more open and spacious feel to smaller homes. And the Moove components themselves are dedicated to maximizing storage and minimizing clutter: Moove 1 features voluminous sliding storage down below and an equally roomy lift-style cabinet up top.

If you prefer a freestanding approach, Moove 2 is equally compact, similarly alluring, and every bit as functional as its wall-mounted brethren. This unit in glossy white stays where it is, while the cooktop and counter space slide out from beneath–very like an over-sized drawer. Moove 2 is also dedicated to creating illusory and actual space in the kitchen, as it imparts the attractive option of a center island with full 360 degree access that also functions as cooking central.
