Jacuzzi in the Shower: Super-Slim Panels and Columns

Remember the Seinfeld episode in which Kramer “adopts” a mile of highway? Assuming a greater degree of proprietorship than this arrangement would normally allow, he blacks out the lane marks with spray paint, thus converting four lanes into two and facilitating an unparalleled Kramerism: “wide lanes Jerry…. WIDE LANES! Notwithstanding Cosmo’s enjoyment as he cruises his mile stretch in unencumbered glory, calamity ensues. The episode’s take on the hazards of unbridled freedom reminds me of Jacuzzi’s extra-wide Aquasol Whirlpool Bath. The super spacious bath allows side-by-side bathing without the usual drawbacks of sharing this most intimate space. Tempting, indeed. But as I thought on it (and perused Jacuzzi's website), I was more taken with the company's line of shower panels and hydrocolumns. These lithe delivery systems are super sleek and ultra cool-they convert the often cumbersome infrastructure of the bath into the simplicity of a clean, thin rectangle.

Jacuzzi's shower columns are extremely compact yet highly functional. Each of the ten shower panels features a large, protecting raindrop-style showerhead; a detachable hand-held spout with riser rail; vertical hydromassage with multiple jet styles and speeds; and de-scaling jets for hygiene and ease of maintenance. All of that is absolutely appealing-and, in fact, de rigueur in today's bath product environment-but I'm even more entranced by the line's visual versatility. Among the ten models, one finds an impressive array of aesthetic diversity. Twice features a column in warm teak that lends it to Scandinavian environs; I can see it gracing boutique hotels and upscale ski lodges from Zermatt to the Apennines.

For more of an urban appeal, there's the high minimalism of Sense; this model is slim and sleek, with a glass column in glossy black or austere white. And for those of a more eclectic disposition, consult the unbridled joie de vivre of Rei. Featuring an undulating column and technicolor finishes in pop yellow or wisteria, this model would be right at home in the spirited coastal sunshine of SoCal or Barcelona.
