Stua’s NUBE Armchair

The intersection of a cube and a human body; contemporary spaces meet human curves: Stua’s NUBE chair features a minimal chrome frame and, at the top of the chair, a flat plane surface to define its form. A curved and cozy upholstered seat contrasts with the light and minimal outer shape.

“The volume is then delimited by the sober straight lines of the outside, enriched by the grace of the inner curves.” Stua explains, “This effect is enhanced by the use of two colours in the upholstery of the armchair, one colour for the flat surfaces and the other colour for the curved surfaces.” The parallel lines and surfaces, in lieu of a solid block, allow the chair’s curved back to be exposed. The curved form is supported by the nearly invisible frame.

NUBE can be used for both domestic use and the contract market. NUBE is upholstered in a number of bold color combinations to add interest to any office or living room. Price: $1,598.  For another take on ‘the cube’ in armchair form, check out Jessica Nebel’s Rocking Cube.  Kanutos Lounge Chairs by Victor Monserrate uses a similar lightweight frame which supports a more organic, curved seat form.
