Artesian’s Sustainable Sinks: Bamboo for the Bath

The first week of May brings the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (KBIS) to Atlanta this year. Among the many exhibitors, Artesian Sinks will unveil new bathroom sink product lines, including handcrafted stone vessel sinks and hand-painted glass vessel sinks. In keeping with KBIS’ focus on sustainable design for 2009—which is why the conference is being held in Atlanta, reputedly one of the country’s greenest cities—Artesian Sinks will also be showing Bamboo Sinks made from 100% organic and eco-friendly bamboo.

The fast-growing grass assures that resources are saved and avoids the destruction of old-growth forests. Other interesting uses for bamboo include furniture such as the Spring Chair and home accessories such as the Teori line.

Each Bamboo Sink is handcrafted and comes in a unique finish. Artesian Sinks explains that their bamboo line “is sure to add peacefulness to your bathroom.” In three shapes, the Bamboo Sinks will please any sign of the zodiac. Those who are difficult to please—Aries and Scorpios—can choose the unique rectangle shape. Those overly concerned with balance, such as Libras and Geminis, can opt for the perfect circle. And the well-behaved of the celestial chart will surely like the square (Cancers, for example). The rectangle measures 19 x 14 x 4 inches; the round 17 x 6 inches; and the square 17 x 17 x 6 inches with an extra thick edge. Whatever the shape, Artesian’s Bamboo Sinks bring a wonderful earthy element not seen often enough in bathrooms, where water usually dominates. The warmth of the wood recalls the natural state of water, where springs and lakes are surrounded by woods and glades in perfect harmony.
