Live at IMM Cologne: Supercool

Horst Wittmann and Konstantin Landuris met as students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and quickly found common ground in their belief of how an object should look and function. They launched the design studio hansandfranz in 2006, refining their focus on clear geometric forms levened with clever details.

Supercool. Designed Horst Wittmann and Konstantin Landuris.

One of their first projects was a lamp for Italian lighting company Macrolux, but their most recent piece was inspired by the needs of their own friends, a group of artists, filmmakers and designers with their own lighting needs. Supercool was developed to provide flexible, stylish lighting that could work for installations as well as in an apartment. A telescoping support pole holds a blade-shaped LED light fixture that can be positioned anywhere on the pole and can rotate 360 degrees. Placed close to a wall, the lamp uses the wall as a reflector and the overall effect is minimal and architectural without being severe. Supercool for sure.
