Salone 2025: Strange Little Things by Ingo Maurer
What is a lamp intended to do besides illuminate space? If it’s designed by Ingo Maurer, it will also spark joy and ignite conversation—brilliant!

The team at Ingo Maurer presents five new luminaires at Euroluce 2025—each with its own conceptual spin and philosophical bent. Although Ingo Maurer passed away in 2019, the creative minds at his eponymous brand continue to transform lighting into functional objects—and conceptual explorations.
Bruce Springsteel

Say goodbye to cables. Bruce Springsteel relies of a deceptively strong but visually delicate wire suspension. Two loops of spring steel balance the spotlight, which can be used as a wall or ceiling light. Electricity flows through the slim wires to illuminate the spotlight, capturing a feeling of lightness.
Jasna Kuchnia

In a perfect example of defamiliarization, Jasna Kuchnia takes an everyday object—a dish holder—and shifts its purpose, thereby reactivating the object’s aesthetic value. A narrow LED strip shines light from behind the lamp’s white porcelain plates.
Nalum

Designed by Sebastian Hepting, Nalum arrests the movement of ocean waves. Inside the center, a floating glass tube illuminates the outer component.

Held in place by magnets, the tube within reflects the dynamism of water in motion. Look closely and you’ll see a surfer figurine riding the wave.
Strange Little Thing

Besides the fabulous name, Strange Little Thing revels in its own anthropomorphization. The small lighting object includes a circuit board, miniature optic, high-performance LED, and two USB-C ports on aluminum. Visible cables animate the L-shaped thing.
