Infants win the day with swaddling cloths and crib sheets by Anishinaabe designer Destiny Seymourr. Adapted from her pottery designs, “This Niiwin pattern celebrates the long history of beautiful Indigenous pottery vessels from Manitoba.”

Seymour has been mentored by elder Valdie Seymor, a tradition of ancestral celebration and participation that keeps the Anishinaabe culture alive and vital. The swaddling cloth starts this process from birth.

The collection, which also includes the “Love” design pictured below, is the result of a collaboration between two female-led companies, Indigo Arrows and FREED, both located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The soft stretchy swaddles measure 48″ x 48”; they’re made with a mix of 40% cotton, 40% viscose, 15% bamboo, & 5% lycra.
