While organic forms found in nature comprise the overt antecedent for Benjamin Hubert's Amass modular space divider, the designer was also inspired by a less obvious source-trade shows: "One of the world’s most wasteful industries, with their thousands of banners, leaflets, samples, and stands they generate 600,000 tons of waste per year."

Amass is a modular, recyclable solution that allows construction (and, crucially, disassembly and re-use) of curtain walls as well as thicker, three-dimensional partitions incorporating corners and walls.

The individual units of Amass are made of injection-moulded polypropylene-three different components evocative of natural shapes, representing a multitude of forms from tree branches to DNA.

Amass debuted in September at 100% Design, where Hubert employed the modular system to construct a formidable curtain wall-a semi-transparent "auditorium" that served the dual function of containment without exclusion: "46,000 pieces were hung in curtains around the stage and seating area to create a permeable visual barrier defining the space… accommodating the audience for the seminar programme without excluding passers-by.”

Amass is appropriate for a variety of uses within both contract and commercial environments, with a broad range of size applications up to 100 square meters.
