At last month's designjunction show in London, British designer Benjamin Boyce presented a series of well crafted products including this contemporary Writing Desk.

Crisp, sharp and beautifully crafted, Benjamin Boyce's Writing Desk is characterized by a distinctive curved writing surface.

Made of American white oak and finished with clear wax, the desk's curved back and mint green vinyl writing surface provide a contemporary edge to an otherwise traditional design.

The sides are made up of thin slices of oak veneer that have been laminated together, while the centre is made of a flexible plywood core that was moulded around a former and set in a vacuum press.

Two sleek drawers provide storage while a strip of vinyl upholstery on the back panel of the desktop creates visual continuity.

Benjamin tells us: "I found while coming up with the design and making mock ups of the top, myself and others couldn't help but be absorbed and want to run their hands over the surface of the curve - it draws people in. When it came to choosing the color I wanted something that was fresh and modern to compliment the shape and a nod to the past, so I chose this cool, mint green vinyl."
