Cassina is hopping into bed with Rodolfo Dordoni, Piero Lissoni, and Philippe Starck to create a new collection that promotes healthy sleeping. The Sleeping Authentic reinterprets bedroom furniture with four new signature beds.
Cassina challenged contemporary architects Rodolfo Dordoni, Piero Lissoni, and Philippe Starck to incorporate new research and techniques into the collection’s design
Dordoni’s Sled design is ideal for the center of a room, where its rear shelf is accessible from every angle and can act as a bookshelf or nightstand. With a stained black oak frame, the bed is also available in a Sled Slim version, a design without a rear shelf that can sit against the wall. Along with the bed, Dordoni designed a complementary bedroom desk and night tables with one or two drawers.
With a weightlessness imparted by slender polished aluminum feet, Starck’s Volage bed features a leather or fabric capitonné, available in various sizes and designs that sit flush with the edge of the bed, or high or low with parts in projection. Two Starck-designed lamps can also be integrated. Other accessories include a night table or container with a crystal parallelepiped with a steel chromium-plated base and a bench with a leather or fabric capitonné seat and supports in polished aluminium.
Lissoni’s large and comfortable Moov bed has a functional cushion-holder, allowing allows cushions to be stored neatly during the day and giving a cleaner appearance to the headboard. Moov can be upholstered in fabric or leather.
Lissoni’s Mex bed is also equipped with a cushion-holder, and the option of a large internal storage space with a hinge opening and spring lifting mechanism. Mex can be upholstered in fabric or leather.
Each bed features a mattress calibrated to accommodate the various movements and positions that the body makes during sleep: separated and individually covered springs ensure long life and offer differentiated anatomical support. Mattress linings are made of special materials that rebound to their original form after use.
