Stripe Chair by Oliver Schick for Skandiform

German designer Oliver Schick has created a refined lounge chair for Swedish brand Skandiform that features a surprising rocking mechanism.

The way in which Stripe’s plywood shell is attached to the steel base frame allows the chair to smoothly rock without any mechanical suspension.

The white or black lacquered metal frame loops around the shell, allowing the user to rock the seat gently back and forth while the base remains firmly on the floor. The plywood shell is available in natural or stained ash or oak veneer, and the padded seat cushion can be upholstered in a choice of leathers and fabrics.
