Environite West Coast Recycled Surfaces

For our West coast readers; today we have a product so sustainable that they insist on keeping it regional to their manufacturing facility in Camano Island Washington. Operating out of the Pacific Northwest, Environite is in the company of Nyloboard and Paperstone among many others. Environite focuses on local recycled content and regional manufacturing and distribution to minimize the environmental impact caused by transportation.

Environite is made with approximately 90% recycled content such as recycled glass, post-consumer and post-industrial waste. It is VOC and styrene-free and comes in a variety of colors that range from natural to ruby red. To minimize waste, Environite is cast-to-size and can be recycled at the end of its life. Environite meets or exceeds all EPA/LEED requirements for recycled building products, helping to achieve maximum LEED points for a project.

There are a lot of recycled countertop surface materials on the market which have a similar ideology to Environite. To name just a few, we’ve looked at Squak Mountain Stone, Alkemi recycled aluminum surfaces, and Icestone. Each of these products take its own unique twist on recycled surfaces, either via a look, feel, or manufacturing process. What I like about Environite is its dedication to regional sourcing. Environite is an attractive, durable material that I would use in a project were I not based in New York, (fat chance they would ship it across the country and I have the utmost respect for their philosophy.) Transportation energy is a huge part of the sustainability of a product that is often overlooked. I hope our West Coast readers will check out Environite and send along some feedback.
