A New FLOR Everyday: Adaptable, Recyclable & Fun

Sometimes the ability to customize a product is a good thing and other times it is nothing more than an advertising gimmick. A lot of furniture that is adaptable, never changes from the day it is first purchased. This isn’t to say I dislike the idea of adaptability, especially when it helps ease the environmental impact of a product.

FLOR.

FLOR

is a carpet system that allows for ultimate customizability in color, texture and scale. This product is the commercialization of something architects have been doing at home for years. There are hundreds of carpet samples, usually 2’x2′ squares, floating around the my office in a wide variety of colors and styles. The samples get taken home and made into patchwork rugs or cat scratching posts. FLOR is a much more refined version of this DIY project, with its pre-selected kits, design guide and FLORdots to hold the finished product together. The FLOR system is a user friendly product both in terms of installation and style. The selection of designs range from bright colors and wild patterns, to floors for business, to natural fibers.

FLOR is also an environmentally responsible system. Each square is made from 85% post-consumer recycled materials, diverting at least 5 plastic water bottles from entering a landfill. The panels are also easily replaceable which is helpful for stains as well as an aesthetic change of heart. FLOR is manufactured in an energy efficient facility where their return and recycle program is set up to close the loop and keep carpet out of landfills.
